Public meetings on corrections and post secondary education being held across NWT

The Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly’s Standing Committee on Social Development, chaired by Nehendeh MLA Shane Thompson, will hold a number of public hearings across the territory on two bills – Bill 45: Corrections Act and Bill 48: Post-Secondary Education Act.

The committee will be in Fort Smith on Monday, May 13 at 7:00 pm at the Northern Life Museum & Cultural Centre.

It will Hay River on Tuesday, May 14 at 7:00 pm at the Community Centre.

The committee stops in Fort Providence on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 12:00 noon at the Community Hall.

It will then be in Behchokǫ̀ later on Wednesday, May 15, at 6:00 pm at the Kǫ ̀ Gocho Centre.

On Thursday, May 16 the committee will be in Inuvik at 7:00 pm at the Midnight Sun Complex.

On Friday, May 17 at 7:00 pm the committee will be at Kitti Hall in Tuktoyaktuk.

On Thursday, May 23 at 7:00 pm the committee will meet in Committee Room ‘A’ on the second floor of the Legislative Assembly Building

The government states in a news release that the meetings are open to the public but while it strives to be accessible to all, it is unable to anticipate every person’s unique needs.
