RCMP investigate after man shot near downtown Yellowknife

A man is in recovering from a non-life threatening wound after he was shot early Sunday morning in Yellowknife.

RCMP state in a new release that officers were called to the Grayling Manor apartment building on 53rd Street near Franklin Ave., not far from downtown and found a 25-year-old man who had suffered a gunshot wound.

Police say he was taken to Stanton Territorial Hospital.

They have not identified him not said where on his body he was hit.

RCMP state their police dog services and forensic identification team attended the scene and processed the area.

They add that at this point the evidence gathered indicates this was an isolated incident.

Police want to hear from you if you witnessed the incident or were in the area of 53rd Street and 50th Avenue, between midnight and 1:00 am.
