RCMP investigate after man stabbed at Dorset Apartments in Yellowknife, two blocks from where man shot Sunday

Yellowknife RCMP are investigating after a man was stabbed late Wednesday night at a Dorset Apartments on 53 St. near 52 Ave., not far from the city’s downtown.

It’s the second violent incident at an apartment building on 53 St. in the past four days.

According to an email from RCMP to CKLB sent Thursday, officers arrived on scene at about 11:45 pm.

They found a Yellowknife Emergency Medical Response Unit attending for treatment of a non-life threatening injury to a man.

RCMP say they began an investigation into the incident.

Police state they are not seeking any suspects and there is no public safety concern at this time.

The investigation is ongoing and at this point police say they are not seeking witnesses.

They have not released any other information.

Meanwhile, RCMP are still looking for a suspect after a man suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound inside the Grayling Manor apartment building also on 53 St. near Franklin Ave., just two blocks from the stabbing, early Sunday morning.

CKLB has learned that the 25-year-old man was shot in the buttocks in a stairway and that a 23-year-old man my be the shooter.

A source also told CKLB that a handgun was used in a dispute over a woman.

RCMP have not confirmed any of those details.

There is no indication the two incidents are related.
