RCMP investigate after another convenience store armed robbery in Yellowknife

Yellowknife RCMP  are investigating yet another armed robbery at a convenience store in the city.

Police state in a news release that the Circle K Convenience at Forrest Drive and Franklin Ave., otherwise known as Mac’s or Winks, was held up early Thursday night by a suspect, brandishing a knife.

“Shortly after 12:00 am, on June 7, Yellowknife RCMP attended the store following a complaint of an armed robbery,” RCMP stated. “A man entered the store, demanding cash from the store clerk, while yielding a knife.”

The suspect is described as being 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a slender build and a darker complexion.

At the time of the incident the suspect was wearing a black coat or sweater with a hood over his head. police stated.

They add no one was injured during the event.

It’s believed to be at least the fifth robbery of a convenience store in Yellowknife this year.

Yellowknife RCMP are requesting that if you were in the area of Franklin Drive and Forrest Drive during the early morning hours of June 7th, to please contact the detachment at 867-765-3900.

“Information received from the public could provide valuable insight, to assist with the RCMP’s investigation into this incident,” states Staff Sergeant Yannick Hamel, Operations Manager for Yellowknife RCMP.
