Mounties investigate after possible stabbing in Inuvik

One man has been arrested while another man went to hospital after an apparent stabbing in Inuvik early Friday morning.

According to an RCMP news release, police received a report of an altercation that resulted in one male being hurt.

Inuvik RCMP attended the area of Union Street and located a male who appeared to have been wounded with what they call an “edged weapon” during an altercation.

The victim was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries, police stated.

Police also located and arrested one adult male.

They state in an email that Lanny Pascal-Stewart, 39, of Inuvik, has been charged in connection with the incident although they have not said what he is charged with.

Mounties state they have no reason to believe there is any danger to the public and that this was an isolated incident.
