Yellowknife woman, wanted in two robberies, has been arrested

A Yellowknife woman, wanted by RCMP since late April for two robberies, has been arrested.

According to a news release from the Mounties, Cynthia Lafferty, 20, was apprehended without incident in Yellowknife early Monday morning.

Police state officers located and arrested Lafferty following a tip they received from the public.

They don’t say exactly where in the city she was found.

RCMP state that following the initial media release about Lafferty being on warrants back on April 23, a number of tips from the public have been received.

“We want to thank the public for helping our investigators in locating Ms. Lafferty,” states RCMP Cpl. Julien Chalifour.

Lafferty is charged with two counts of robbery and one count of theft under $5000 in relation to incidents in January and April at an uptown convenience store and another last month at a gas bar on Forrest Drive.

Lafferty was to appear in court Monday.
