Woman medevaced to Edmonton, two dogs die in Yellowknife house fire

One woman suffered serious injuries and was treated at Stanton Territorial Hospital and then transported to Edmonton for further treatment after a house fire Wednesday in Yellowknife’s Kam Lake area.

According to a news release from the city, two dogs perished in the fire.

Firefighters arrived about 7:15 pm and found smoke coming from the eves and side of the single-storey home located behind Arctic Farmer and Bridgestone Tire on Drybones Drive.

The house had already been evacuated.

The condition of the woman who went to hospital has not been made public.

She has not been identified.

Officials from the NWT Fire Marshal’s office are now looking for the cause of the blaze.
