Edward Sangris wins 4th term as Dettah Chief

Members of the Yellowknives Dene First Nation have given Chief Edward Sangris a fourth mandate as chief.

According to preliminary results from returning officer Lynda Commerford, Sangris received the most check marks on the ballot for chief of Dettah with 133 votes, a post he has held since 2007.

Former Lands Manager Rachel Crappeau came in second with 106 votes, and councilor Bobby Drygeese received 105. Former Ndilo Chief and community Negotiator Fred Sangris withdrew from the race in July. The election for YKDFN Councillors will be on August 26th.
